Summary: The U.S. Mission in Zagreb, Croatia is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Cultural Affairs Specialist.
The work schedule for this position is:
- full time – 40 hours per week.
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time after the receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
Supervisory Position: No
Duties: Oversees USG exchange programs, including Fulbright, Fulbright-Schumann, International Visitor Leadership Program, Humphrey and VOLVIS. Promotes programs, recruits applicants, oversees internal decision process, briefs and debriefs participants. Promotes university linkages between Croatia and the United States. Works with high level Croatian contacts at national universities and the Ministry of Education to promote and manage U.S. programs and to create new partnerships and enhance existing ones.
Qualifications and Evaluations
EDUCATION: University degree in Liberal Arts or Education is required.
EXPERIENCE: Must have at least five years of experience with educational institutions or cultural organizations.
KNOWLEDGE: Thorough and comprehensive understanding of Croatian political, economic, social and educational institutions is required.
LANGUAGE: Level 4 (fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing of English is required. (This may be tested). Level 4 (fluent) speaking/Reading/Writing of Croatian language is required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must have excellent organizational skills needed to balance competing demands on time. Must have good analytical ability and writing skills. Adequate computer skills and ability to work in multiple databases are required.
Qualifications: All applicants under consideration will be required to pass security certifications.

The certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service.
