Apply Now: 2023-2024 Fulbright Schuman Scholarship
We encourage you to apply for the 2023-2024 Fulbright Schuman Program
The Fulbright Schuman Program awards scholarships to European citizens for research in the United States with a focus on EU affairs/policy, or the US-EU transatlantic agenda.
The Fulbright Schuman Program is administered by the Fulbright Commission in Belgium and is jointly financed by the U.S. Department of State and the Directorate-General for Education and Culture of the European Commission.
Fulbright Schuman grants can be awarded to students, scholars, and professionals with citizenship in any of the 27 EU member states for a period of up to one academic year (9 months). Awards are open to all academic fields, but the research must be relevant to US-EU relations, EU affairs/policy, or EU institutions and must show relevancy to at least two EU member states. Candidates must arrange their own placement at an accredited university or a non-profit research institution in the USA. An overview of all grants can be found on our website at www.fulbrightschuman.eu.
NATO SECURITY STUDIES AWARD — NEW THIS YEAR!
In partnership with the U.S. Mission to NATO, we are excited to announce the Fulbright-NATO Security Studies Award for the 2023-24 academic year. As part of the Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program, the award aims to foster awareness and understanding of NATO and to increase the level of debate on peace, security, and defense-related issues. This award funds European post-doctoral researchers, professors, and professionals to conduct research and/or lecture at a U.S. institution for a period of three months in fields of study with a connection to NATO, including but not limited to cybersecurity, military history, nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation, peace and security, security studies, and transatlantic studies. (Note that applicants for this particular award should hold citizenship in a country that is a member of both the European Union and NATO.)
We are currently accepting applications from European candidates to the Fulbright Schuman Program for the 2023-24 academic year. Applicants need to submit an application by 1 December 2022, via the global Fulbright application platform and must select ‘European Union (Schuman)’ as the Program Country to indicate that they are applying for a Fulbright Schuman award.
An overview of all grants can be found on our website at www.fulbrightschuman.eu.
