Embassy Outreach Program – American Speaker

Who built the White House?
Can I study in the United States?
How is the U.S. educational system structured?
How does the election system work?
What is the role of the Supreme Court?
What is it like to be an American living in Croatia?
Do you like ćevapi?

These are some of the questions we are asked in our discussions. The Public Affairs Section at the U.S. Embassy in Zagreb provides Croatian schools, universities, NGOs and other organizations the opportunity to meet Embassy and Consulate staff to learn more about the United States.

We can share the U.S. perspective on a wide range of governmental, political, social or cultural issues, such as the legal system, education, volunteerism, history, arts & culture, food, schools, sports, business, economy, diversity,… We can also discuss the U.S. government position on policy issues and the U.S. – Croatian bi-lateral relations. Our speakers can also give presentations on study in the U.S. – providing detailed information on scholarships and admission procedures for U.S. universities, as well as a personal experience of studying in the States. These are only a few of the possibilities. Our goal is to address the topics you find interesting and important. If you have other ideas, please let us know.

Most of our discussions will be conducted in English. However, we also have staff who speak Croatian.

We will be happy to travel to your location, or you are welcome to visit us at the Embassy. The Embassy makes all travel arrangements for the speaker and there is no charge to the requesting organization. For institutions located in Zagreb, we can also offer transportation to the Embassy for a limited number of persons.
