We are pleased to announce the competition for HUBERT H. HUMPHREY FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM – a 10-month combined academic/professional experience in the United States for 2019-20 academic year
Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program brings accomplished mid level professionals to the United States for a 10-month combined academic (NON-DEGREE) and professional work. Fellowships are granted competitively to both public and private sector candidates with strong leadership potential and a commitment to public service. - Croatian citizenship
- Evidence of employment in the Republic of Croatia
- Five years of full-time professional experience in the relevant field
- University degree (4-year undergraduate degree is required)
- Proficiency in English

APPLICATION PROCEDURE AND COMPETITION SCHEDULE
The competition and on-line applications are open from April 10 through May 12, 2018.
All applications, including references, undergo technical and academic reviews. Candidates who satisfy all requirements will be interviewed by Croatian-American interviewing teams in mid-June of 2018. Personal interviews are obligatory. Skype or phone interview will not be available. Based on interview results, the list of finalists will be submitted for final approval to the J. William Fulbright Board of Foreign Scholarships in the United States. Selected grantees will be notified of the final approval in March 2019. For the most part, the programs will start in mid-August of 2019.
Finalists for Humphrey awards will be required to take a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) between September-October 2018.

Appropriate candidates are mid career professionals in leadership positions who have the required experience/skills, commitment to public service and potential for advancement in their professions. Prospective fellows should have a minimum of five years professional experience (prior to August 2019) in the relevant field and should be policy rather than research or technically oriented.
Recent university graduates, university teachers or academic researchers with no management responsibilities (except in the field of TOEFL), and individuals with recent U.S. or third country experience (more than 6 months during the 5 years prior to August 2019), individuals with dual U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residence status, individuals who have attended a graduate school in the U.S. for one academic year or more during the seven years prior to August 2018, and individuals who have previously participated in U.S. Government sponsored programs (Humphrey, Fulbright, Ron Brown, JFDP).
Additional documents which must be mailed (post-marked) by registered mail by May 12, 2018 include:

- Xerox/photo-copy of university degree (in Croatian)
- original letter from employer confirming employment in Croatia (in English or Croatian)
